Wecome to RajKanika Coir Cluster

Rajkanika Coir Cluster is a product of an instrument of a Tripartite aggreement signed between Coir Board (a Government of India Undertaking), Society for National Excellence and Higher Achievement , (an eminently reputed NGO known as SNEHA) and Rajkanika Coir SPV Trust (a Special Purpose Vehicle) for implementation of a GOI programme (SFURTI) meant to develop coir sector in the district of Kendrapada in the state of Odisha.
SNEHA is the implementing agency (IA) of the project. The Project cost is Rs 1.74 crores out of which MSME Department of GOI has sanctioned Rs 1.61 crores. The balance is the beneficiaries contribution to be arranged by the IA.
It is registered as a society under Society Act 1860 bearing registration no.KRD/6833-515 of 1995-96.. For last twenty years it has been doing monumental work in different fields like training, sanitations, handicraft coir etc. The members among them are engineers , banker retired IAS officer having vast experience in different fields.

Our Vision

With abundant availability of raw material (Cocoanut husk) and a very large number of work force as well as coir artisans our VISION is to utilize these resources to the maximum for upliftment of the standard of living of these BPL group of people in this area.

Our Mission

To at least double the income of the artisans of the area in a period of two to three years with the successful implementation of the programme by way of increasing the productivity, producing new designed marketable products with training in coir machineries and giving them wide exposure to export markets. All efforts will be made to dovetail other schemes of government and government undertakings with the present programme of SFURTI to achieve a higher rate of success.

Coir Fibre

Coir Fibre is extracted from the fibrous outer cover of the fruit of the Coconut palm, with or without retting. Coir Fibre is graded based on its nature of extraction, colour, presence of long and short fibres, impurities etc.

Coir Yarn is generally of 2 ply, spun from coir fibre by hand as well as with the help of traditional ratts, fully automatic spinning machines etc. The Coir yarn is of different qualities/grades based on the quality of fibre used, the nature of twist, presence of impurities etc.

Coir Mat

Creel mats are manufactured both on handlooms and powerlooms. They are specially noted for their low pile height. The yarn for the pile structure is released from the beam in the course of the weaving process.
