Traditional Industries plays key role in providing employment, industrialization of rural & backward areas, resulting in fair distribution of income & wealth and reducing regional imbalance. Growth potential for Traditional Industrial products have been recognized at various forums and accordingly Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI) was announced in 2005-06 and modified during later years to make it more vibrant and effective to provide support to these industries.Coir Board a statutory body established by the Government of India under alegislation enacted by the Parliament namely Coir Industry Act 1953 (45 of 1953) with a wider objective of promotion and development of coir industry, is primaryNodal Agency for implementation of SFURTI. APITCO Limited was empanelled as Technical Agency (TA) by Coir Board to provideclose handholding and implementation of SFURTI Clusters. Subsequently Coir board has appointed APITCO Limited for preparation of PPR & DPR for 7 shortlisted CoirClusters in the state of Odisha.
